Pirates of Lewes Expedition Cruise - This summer take your kids on a swashbuckling pirate adventure of fantasy and fun, a fantastic voyage they will remember for years to come. Cape Henlopen State Park and Nature Center - Cape Henlopen's beaches attract thousands of visitors who enjoy ocean swimming and sunbathing. Two designated swimming beaches provide lifeguard patrols between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. Umbrellas can be rented during the summer. The northern swimming area also features a modern bath house with showers, changing rooms, and a food concession. The park's open spaces feature many other activities. A picnic pavilion and the "Officer's Club" building can both be reserved for group events. An 18-hole disc golf course encourages friendly competition, and basketball courts promote more active exercise. Annual events such as the Kite Festival and the Halloween Fantasy Trail are family favorites. Biking - Biking is one of the most favored activities for tourists. It's a great way to get exercise all the while taking in the beautiful scenery that surrounds you. Per Delaware State Law, cyclists must obey all laws governing motor verhicles including riding with traffic (rather than against it) as well as having the appropriate lighting on the bicycle. Cyclists are also encouraged to wear helmets for added safety.
There are many opportunities for cycling along the Delaware Coast. A popular route amongst tourists for it's beauty and terrain is the Junction and Breakwater Trail off Wolfe Neck Road on the southwestern side of Cape Henlopen State Park midway between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Those desiring a longer ride may contact Sussex Cyclists, a local cycling group which leads day and evening rides from 11 to 50 miles mostly through rural Sussex County roads. Fishing - Some of the best surf and deep sea fishing can be found right here along the Delaware Coast! Surf fishing is available along the three coastal state parks, Cape Henlopen State park, Delaware Seashore State Park and Fenwick Island State Park. Please note, a fishing license is required in Delaware for those over the age of 16.
